Brilliant Ballyroan

Curo are thrilled to be continuing our work with Irish Libraries as wonderful democratic spaces filled with the potential for philosophical inquiry. This time Orla, Annie and Lucy headed to Ballyroan to work with 4th class from Ballyroan Boys School to think about questions, and how philosophical questions (defined by the class as ‘ultra-level questions’) are different from questions that have definite testable answers, or ones that we could just answer through observation.

For their first CPI, 4th class worked together to answer the question: ‘Should we always be punished for lying?’ We were especially impressed with the careful way they listened to one-another to identify places where they might build on one another’s thinking. There were some very creative monster statues that helped us think through our inquiry- we especially like the T-monster, because we balanced thinking about the truth and lies!
